Bob Dylan - Masterpieces (1978): How It Changed the Music Industry

R-2126 George Jackson - edited version (4:20) of "Big Band" version R-0084 from singles, see 1971, lyrics on bobdylan.com hereHarald Sigvartsen notes that this track has the same distortion which affects the restored 5:33 version on the later three-disc releases (it may be from here that this distortion originates).

Dylan moved to New York City in 1961 and began to perform in clubs and cafés in Greenwich Village. He met the record producer John Hammond with whom he signed a contract for his debut album, Bob Dylan (1962). In the following years he recorded a number of albums which have had a tremendous impact on popular music: Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited in 1965, Blonde On Blonde in 1966 and Blood On The Tracks in 1975. His productivity continued in the following decades, resulting in masterpieces like Oh Mercy (1989), Time Out Of Mind (1997) and Modern Times (2006).

This striking combination made Dylan seem like both an age-defying seer and a post-modern shaman. A baby-boom generation philosopher, he could create wondrous works of beauty in his songs, or use them to sneer and satirize with equal skill and conviction. His love and knowledge of folk, country, blues, rock, pop, bluegrass, jazz, Celtic music and more gave him a deep well of resources with which to paint his masterpieces.

Erè mèla mèla 'was the very first record of modern Ethiopian music released in Europe. This volum 7 includes all of the Mahmoud Ahmed's recordings released in 1975 by Kaifa Records, plus 2 tracks released on another 45 and 2 masterpieces from an album released in 1978 under Mahmoud's own label. Erè mèla mèla ' is one of the last treasures of the "golden age" of modern Ethiopian music.

For me, a Deadhead, Grateful Dead live albums are the best because any given song will be played differently on a given date. Jerry Garcia's guitar solos are masterpieces that are best appreciated in a live setting. 2ff7e9595c
